Golf tied for seventh at Adams Cup, Bibeau named assistant coach

After 36 holes of play at The Adams Cup in Newport, Rhode Island, Temple is tied for seventh place in the 16-team field with a score of 603.

Senior Matt Crescenzo shot a two-under 142 to lead the Owls.

Sophomore Brandon Matthews had a tough stretch on day one, carding a nine-over 81 during his morning round, but rebounded in the afternoon, shooting a one-over 73 and is tied with junior Mike Amole for 43nd place.

Junior Matt Teesdale is tied for 49th with an 11-over 155. Freshman Evan Galbreath carded a 15-over 159 to round out the lineup.

The Owls trail Hartford and Rhode Island by eight strokes for third place.

University of Central Florida leads the tournament with a 565.

The Adams Cup will conclude on Tuesday with eighteen holes of action.

Less than a year after his playing days at Temple concluded, Devin Bibeau is returning to Temple and has been named as an assistant coach to headman Brian Quinn.

Bibeau was a four-year letter winner and as a senior, placed fifth overall at the Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championship and vaulted himself to a Top 10 finish at the Wildcat Invitational.

Bibeau was also named to the A 10 All-Conference team during his senior campaign.
